How Discounts Work

Overview

Discounts on AIDIRECTORY let tool owners showcase active deals, promo codes, and special offers directly on their product listing. Visitors can reveal and copy discount codes, then redeem them on the tool's website.

How Discounts Appear

When a tool has an active discount, it shows up in two places:

1. Tool card - a green ticket icon appears on the card in listing pages, with a tooltip showing the discount amount.
2. Product page sidebar - a dedicated discount card displays the full deal details, including the code, description, expiration, and a link to redeem.

Discount Types

Each discount has a type that determines how the savings are calculated:

Discount Details

A discount includes the following information:

• Code - the promo code users need to redeem the deal.
• Description - an optional note explaining the offer (e.g. "Valid for annual plans only").
• Amount - the numeric value of the discount.
• URL - an optional direct link to a landing page where the code can be applied. Falls back to the tool's main website if not provided.
• Expiration date - when the deal expires. A countdown is shown to create urgency.

Badges

Discounts can carry two optional badges:

• Exclusive - means this deal is only available through AIDIRECTORY and not publicly listed elsewhere.
• Verified - means our team has confirmed the code works and the discount is legitimate.

Revealing a Code

To prevent abuse, discount codes are hidden behind a reveal button. Users must be logged in to reveal a code. After revealing:

• The full code is displayed in a styled box.
• A copy button lets users copy it to their clipboard with one click.
• A "Claim discount" button links directly to the tool's website or custom discount URL.
