Meta launched a new tool that lets developers use AI assistants like ChatGPT to handle WhatsApp Business setup, templates, testing, and fixes.
In short: Meta is letting developers use AI agents to handle much of the setup work for WhatsApp Business messaging.
Meta announced a new tool called WhatsApp Business Tools MCP. It is meant to connect an AI agent, like ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor, or Codex, directly to the WhatsApp Business Platform.
WhatsApp Business is the version of WhatsApp that companies use to chat with customers. Before this change, setting it up could mean jumping between several Meta tools and pages, like dashboards, documentation, and code editors.
With the new MCP server, a developer can chat with their chosen AI agent and ask it to do the common setup steps. Meta says the agent can help create a WhatsApp Business account, add and verify a phone number, sign up for the Cloud API (the official way software connects to WhatsApp), and check items like Terms of Service.
Meta also says the agent can help with ongoing tasks. That includes creating or editing message templates, testing messages and webhooks (automatic notifications that one system sends to another), and watching for issues that might otherwise fail quietly, such as business verification or payment method problems.
For customers, this is mostly behind-the-scenes. But it can affect how quickly a business can start offering WhatsApp support, order updates, and appointment reminders. Think of it like letting a smart assistant handle the forms, checklists, and error messages, so people can spend more time on the actual service.
