Salesforce unveiled Koa at Dreamforce. Built on Nvidia’s Nemotron, it is designed for sales, marketing, and customer support while aiming to limit data exposure.
In short: Salesforce announced a new AI model called Koa, built with Nvidia, to help companies handle sales, marketing, and customer support work.
Salesforce introduced Koa at its Dreamforce conference. Salesforce says Koa is its first “reasoning” model, meaning it is designed to handle longer, multi-step requests, like planning a response to a customer issue or working through a sales process.
Koa is built on Nvidia’s Nemotron model, which is “open-weight.” That means companies can inspect and use the model more freely than a fully closed model (like being allowed to look inside the engine, not just drive the car). Salesforce and Nvidia then “post-trained” Koa, which means they took a general model and practiced it on business-style situations so it gets better at those tasks.
Salesforce says it did not train Koa on real customer data. Instead, it used synthetic data, which is made-up training material designed to resemble real patterns (like a flight simulator for customer service). Salesforce also says Koa can be used inside its Agentforce product, where companies build software “agents” that do routine work like answering support questions or scheduling appointments.
Many companies want AI help, but they also worry about cost and about sensitive business data getting mixed into other systems. Salesforce is positioning Koa as an option that can keep more control inside Salesforce, while still letting customers use other models like Claude or ChatGPT when needed.
