SoundCloud is partnering with ElevenLabs so creators can publish AI-generated music straight to SoundCloud, with tracks labeled as AI-made.
In short: SoundCloud has added a direct publishing option from ElevenLabs, letting people post AI-generated songs to SoundCloud in one step.
SoundCloud is partnering with ElevenLabs, a company that offers an AI music tool called ElevenMusic. Generative AI means software that can create new content, like a song, from a text prompt (like asking a helper to “make a pop track with a sad piano intro”).
With the new integration, users can publish music made in ElevenLabs straight to SoundCloud. Before this, creators had to export the audio file from ElevenLabs, download it, and then upload it to SoundCloud.
SoundCloud says songs posted this way will be labeled, so listeners can see they were created using ElevenLabs. As part of the deal, SoundCloud Artist Pro subscribers will also get three months of ElevenMusic Pro for free.
This is SoundCloud’s second recent AI music partnership. Earlier this year it partnered with Moises, which offers deeper features that pull tracks from SoundCloud into Moises for “stem separation” (splitting a song into parts like vocals and drums, like unbaking a cake into ingredients) and remixing, then sending them back to SoundCloud.
This makes it faster and easier to flood a major music platform with AI-made tracks, while also giving artists a simpler way to experiment. The labels could help listeners decide what they are hearing, but it also raises ongoing questions about what fans want and how streaming sites should handle large amounts of AI-generated music.
