Google has launched AI Edge Foresight for Mac. It can record and transcribe meetings, generate notes, and answer questions while working fully offline.
In short: Google has released AI Edge Foresight, a Mac app that can transcribe meetings and create notes without needing an internet connection.
Google has launched a new meeting note app called Google AI Edge Foresight. It is positioned as a competitor to tools like Granola, which are designed to help people capture what was said in meetings and turn it into useful notes.
Google says the app can work completely offline on a Mac. “Offline” means your notes and the AI features can run on your computer itself, rather than being sent to online servers (like doing math on a calculator in your hand instead of asking someone else to do it).
The app can listen to a meeting and turn speech into text, which is called transcription. It also creates AI-generated notes, and it shows a split screen so you can type your own quick notes on one side while the app builds a cleaner summary on the other.
Google AI Edge Foresight also lets you upload files, including PDFs and documents from Google Docs and Microsoft Office, plus plain text, Markdown, and web bookmarks. The app can use those documents and your meeting notes as a personal “knowledge base,” then answer questions during or after a meeting based on what you have saved.
Google says the app is optimized for Apple Silicon, which is Apple’s newer Mac chip.
Many meeting note apps depend on the internet, which can be a problem when you are traveling, have a weak connection, or do not want sensitive discussions leaving your device. An offline option could appeal to teams that care about privacy, reliability, or simply working anywhere. It also shows how crowded the meeting note app market has become, with more companies launching similar tools in recent months.
