OpenAI is rolling out an “Intelligent UI” for ChatGPT that can show interactive charts, diagrams, and tools, starting with GPT-6.
In short: OpenAI is rolling out a new ChatGPT interface that adds interactive visuals, alongside a new GPT-6 model.
OpenAI says ChatGPT is getting a new look and a new way to answer questions. The company is launching what it calls an “Intelligent UI,” which is short for user interface (the on-screen layout you click and read, like the dashboard of an app).
Instead of replying mostly with text, ChatGPT will now include more visuals inside the conversation. OpenAI says many of these visuals will be interactive, meaning you can tap or click them and change things directly. Examples mentioned include buttons, a task-specific calculator, interactive charts, and editable graphs.
OpenAI showed a short demo to journalists. One example was a student asking how an airplane wing creates lift, and ChatGPT responding with diagrams to help explain it. Other examples included visuals for recipes, a diagram about bicycle mechanics, a map for a multi-day hiking trip, and a personal savings calculator.
OpenAI says the main goal is to make complex topics easier to learn. A product manager at OpenAI said the company wants ChatGPT to help people get things done, and that the most helpful answers are not always just text.
The feature is also meant to be adjustable. If someone does not want many visuals, they will be able to turn them down.
OpenAI says Intelligent UI is rolling out globally with GPT-6 for Pro, Plus, Business, and Enterprise users on Wednesday. It arrives Thursday for Free and lower-cost Go users.
For everyday users, this could make ChatGPT feel less like a long message thread and more like a workspace (like getting a worksheet with sliders and charts instead of a plain explanation). It may be especially useful for learning, planning, and doing basic math or budgeting without switching between different apps.
