Anthropic adds Docs and Slides to Claude and merges chats into one app

In short: Anthropic has launched Claude Docs and Claude Slides in beta, letting people create and edit documents and presentations directly from a Claude chat.

What happened

Anthropic, the company behind the Claude AI assistant, introduced two new tools called Docs and Slides. They let you ask Claude to make a document or a presentation while you are chatting, then you can edit it, export it, and share it with other people.

Docs work a lot like Google Docs. A file starts private, then you can share it with other editors who can work on it at the same time. Anthropic says both people and Claude can leave comments, similar to the comment bubbles you may have seen in online documents.

Slides adds a similar option for presentations. You can have Claude generate slides from your chat, ask it to revise them, or make changes yourself.

Anthropic also said it is simplifying Claude’s interface by merging regular chats and a separate workspace feature called Cowork into “one Claude.” In plain terms, it is like turning two different rooms in the app into one room, so the same set of tools is available no matter where you start.

Why it matters

For many people, writing a document or building slides is a back and forth process, like drafting something, then copying it into a separate tool to format and share. Anthropic is trying to keep more of that work in one place, inside the chat, and still offer sharing and collaboration features. This also puts Claude more directly in competition with Google’s AI tools that are built into Google Docs and Google Slides.
