Treblo releases a tool that flags a hit song as likely AI-made

What happened

Treblo, a company that makes an AI music generator, announced a new tool called the Treblo AI Music Classifier. It is open-source, which means the underlying code is public and other people can review it and build on it.

The tool is designed to detect whether a song was generated using Treblo’s own system. It does not claim to identify music made with other AI tools. Treblo says the classifier has a false positive rate of less than 1 in 1,000, meaning it should rarely label a normal, human-made song as Treblo-made by mistake.

After musician Medasin suggested that “Rubberz” was made with Treblo, the company ran the track through its classifier. The result labeled the song “very likely Treblo” with “high confidence.” Treblo CEO Ryan Tremblay told The Verge the audio was “generated almost entirely” by Treblo’s model, and said it could be the first known AI-generated song to reach the Billboard Hot 100.

Fenix Flexin has denied using AI. The Verge reported that he posted clips that he said were recording session files, but critics argue those clips do not settle the question. Fenix Flexin did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Why it matters

As AI-made music becomes easier to produce, it is also getting harder for listeners to tell what is real. Tools like this are like a “receipt checker” for songs, but only for one brand at a time. If detection tools improve and spread, they could shape how streaming services, charts, and fans handle credit, trust, and payment.
