TechCrunch said it is expanding its AI programming at Disrupt 2026 from one AI stage to two. The existing AI Stage will continue, and a new Real World AI Stage will be added.
The new stage is meant to focus on places where software meets the real world. That includes robots, automated factories, and other “autonomous” machines, which are machines that can make some decisions on their own (like a robot that navigates a warehouse without a person steering it).
TechCrunch shared early sessions and speakers for the Real World AI Stage. Topics include how to test AI systems when mistakes can cause real harm, how AI can work in areas with limited internet access (like working offline on a remote job site), and how companies turn early prototypes into real products that can be manufactured at scale.
One session will feature Colossal Biosciences, a company known for efforts related to “de-extinction,” which is the idea of using modern biology and computing to bring back traits of extinct animals (like trying to recreate something similar to a lost species).
Disrupt 2026 is scheduled for October 13 to 15 at Moscone West in San Francisco.
More AI is moving off computer screens and into everyday places, like workplaces, streets, and homes. A stage focused on real-world uses highlights a practical question many people care about, which is how to make these systems safe and reliable when they can affect lives, jobs, and public spaces.
