Spotify is rolling out Studio by Spotify Labs, a PC app that makes daily briefing podcasts, playlists, and more based on your prompts and listening history.
In short: Spotify has announced a new PC app called Studio by Spotify Labs that can generate daily briefing podcasts, podcasts, and playlists based on what you ask for and what Spotify knows about your interests.
Spotify is launching Studio by Spotify Labs, a standalone app for PCs. It lets people type in prompts, like messages to a chatbot (a text box you talk to like a person), to generate audio briefings, podcasts, and playlists.
Spotify says Studio can use your Spotify listening history to personalize what it creates. If you choose to connect other apps, it can also pull information from places like your email, calendar, and notes. Think of it like letting Spotify read parts of your planner and inbox so it can build an audio update that fits your day.
Spotify also says the app can “take action on your behalf.” That includes researching topics using a web browser, organizing information, and helping complete tasks. Anything you generate in Studio, like a daily briefing podcast, can be saved to your Spotify library.
Spotify says Studio will launch “in the coming weeks” as a research preview for users who are 18 or older.
Separately, Spotify is adding more AI podcast features inside Spotify itself. Premium users are getting a chatbot that can answer questions about the podcast episode you are listening to, including helping you find where a topic is mentioned. Spotify also says it will launch “Personal Podcasts” next month, which are AI-made episodes created from prompts directly in the Spotify app.
For regular listeners, this could make Spotify feel more like a personal radio host that can build a short show just for you. It also raises practical questions about privacy, since the most personalized features may depend on connecting personal apps like email and calendars.
