Polyend’s Endless guitar pedal lets players type a text prompt to create custom effects using an AI tool called Playground, according to The Verge.
In short: Polyend has released Endless, a $299 guitar effects pedal that lets users create new effects by typing a text prompt into an AI tool.
Polyend, a music gear company known for unusual instruments and pedals, is selling a new guitar pedal called Endless for $299. A guitar effects pedal is a small box you plug in between a guitar and an amplifier to change the sound, like adding echo or a “wah” tone.
The idea behind Endless is simple. Instead of choosing only from effects that a company preloaded, you can describe the sound you want in text, and the system creates an effect for you. Polyend calls the software side of this “Playground,” and The Verge describes it as a group of AI agents, which you can think of like several helpers working together to turn your request into settings.
A key detail is that the AI part is not actually inside the pedal itself. The Verge notes that the pedal runs on an ARM processor (a common type of chip used in many small electronics), but the AI that interprets your text prompt happens elsewhere.
The Verge’s review says the pedal comes with dozens of free effects and that Playground is user-friendly. The review also points to downsides, including that testing and refining effects can take time, along with some firmware quirks (firmware is the built-in software that makes the device run).
This product shows how AI is spreading into everyday creative tools, not just computers and phones. For guitar players, it could mean trying very specific sounds on demand, like ordering a custom sandwich instead of picking from a fixed menu.
