Roku has added Fairground AI Creator TV, a free channel that streams AI-made videos nonstop, alongside three new channels with older TV shows.
In short: Roku has added a free, ad-supported channel that streams AI-generated videos 24 hours a day from the startup Fairground.
Roku added four new channels to its free, ad-supported streaming lineup this week. Three of them focus on older TV content, including channels for Mad TV, Whose Line Is It Anyway?, and a selection of Black sitcoms.
The fourth is called Fairground AI Creator TV. It runs 24/7 and plays videos made with generative AI, which is software that can create new images and video based on patterns it learned from lots of existing material (like a super-powered autocomplete for visuals).
Like other free streaming channels, viewers mostly watch what is currently playing. You can skip a few seconds forward or back, but you cannot pick a specific show or topic from a menu. The Verge reports that the channel mixes many styles, from animation-like clips to realistic-looking computer graphics, and that the videos vary in quality and polish.
Fairground launched in 2025 and says it pays its content partners and shares some revenue with them. The company does not say which AI models it uses or whether it has rights to all the training data used to build those models.
This shows where some streaming platforms may be heading. They are testing endless, low-effort channels that can fill your TV like background radio. For viewers, the big question is whether these AI-made channels become a normal part of free TV, and how clearly platforms explain what is AI-made and where it came from.
