OpenAI is rolling out ChatGPT shopping updates that let you preview clothes on your own photo and save items to a Favorites library.
In short: OpenAI is rolling out new ChatGPT shopping features that let you virtually try on clothes using your own photos and save products to a Favorites list.
OpenAI announced a global launch of two new shopping features inside ChatGPT. The first is a virtual try-on tool for clothing and accessories.
To use it, you upload a selfie or a full-body photo. ChatGPT then shows an image of how an item might look on you, similar to holding clothes up to a mirror, but done on screen. In ChatGPT’s shopping results, this shows up as a new “try on” button, and you can also upload a picture of an item, like a screenshot, and ask ChatGPT to try it on.
The second feature is called Favorites. It lets you save products you find into a Library in the app so you can come back later. OpenAI says your saved items will sit alongside your virtual try-on images.
OpenAI says these features use its newer image system, called ChatGPT Images 2.5. An image model is the part of the AI that makes and edits pictures, like a built-in photo editor that follows instructions.
Online shopping often involves guessing how something will look on you and keeping track of links across different stores. Virtual try-on and Favorites are meant to reduce that hassle by letting you preview items quickly and save a shortlist in one place. The space is getting more competitive too, since Google launched its own virtual try-on feature last year.
