Meta has quietly released Waddle World, a virtual pet app that works like a daily journal. It is currently listed for adults in the Philippines.
In short: Meta has quietly launched Waddle World, a free mobile app that looks like a virtual pet game but is meant to act like a daily journal.
Meta released an app called Waddle World on Apple’s App Store and Google Play. Meta describes it as a “tamagotchi-style” pet experience, meaning a digital pet you check in on and take care of, like the small keychain toys many people had years ago.
In the app, users hatch a virtual pet in a simple, old-school pixel style. The pet can chat with the user and create small doodles to match the conversation. The store listings say the main idea is journaling, but “disguised as a pet,” so it feels more like talking to a little companion than filling out a diary.
The listings also suggest users should talk out loud instead of typing. They can also play small “cozy games” such as stacking groceries or playing word games. According to The Verge, the app is listed as free and appears to be available only to adults in the Philippines.
The Verge also reports that Meta has quietly launched another app called Style Sketch, described as an AI fashion app. A social media consultant said it is only available in Indonesia, Singapore, and Thailand, though The Verge could not confirm those location limits.
These apps are a sign that Meta may be testing new AI-based products in a few countries first, before deciding whether to release them more widely. For regular users, it could mean more apps that encourage people to talk and share personal thoughts, which raises basic questions about where that information goes and whether the apps will show up in other regions.
