Jonathan Kanter and Doha Mekki have co-founded FluxCap, a start-up building an AI tool to help lawyers assess claims, analyze evidence, and draft arguments.
In short: Two former Justice Department antitrust leaders have started FluxCap, a company building an AI tool aimed at helping trial lawyers handle more litigation work with smaller teams.
Jonathan Kanter and Doha Mekki have co-founded FluxCap, according to a report published on October 28, 2026. Both previously held senior roles in the US Justice Department during the Biden administration.
Kanter led the Justice Department’s Antitrust Division. Mekki served as the division’s principal deputy assistant attorney general.
FluxCap is developing an AI tool for litigators, meaning lawyers who handle lawsuits in court. The product is meant to help with tasks like assessing whether a legal claim is worth pursuing, finding and analyzing evidence, and developing legal arguments.
Kanter said the goal is to help small teams of skilled lawyers take on more litigation. The company is also highlighting its founders’ legal experience, especially in antitrust, as a key part of its approach.
Lawsuits can involve huge volumes of documents, emails, and other records. Many law firms use large groups of junior lawyers to sort through that material and pull out useful facts. Tools like the one FluxCap is building aim to act like a fast research assistant, helping lawyers locate relevant information and organize it, so smaller teams may be able to do work that once required more people.
