Google says eligible free users in the U.S. can now use Gemini to generate images that reflect their interests, using data from connected Google apps if they opt in.
In short: Google says eligible free users in the U.S. can now use Gemini’s personalized image creation feature at no cost.
Google announced that the Gemini app is expanding access to its personalized AI image generation for people in the U.S. who use the free version, as long as they are eligible. Until now, this feature was limited to paid Gemini plans, including Plus, Pro, and Ultra.
The feature is tied to Gemini’s “Personal Intelligence,” which is optional. If you turn it on, Gemini can use information from connected Google apps like Gmail, Google Photos, YouTube, and Google Search to understand what you like. Think of it like letting a helper look at your notes and photo album so it can make a more personal drawing without you spelling out every detail.
Google says this can make prompts simpler. For example, instead of listing your favorite things, you can ask Gemini to “create an illustration of me and my favorite things,” and it can fill in details based on what it knows. Gemini can also pull real photos of you from Google Photos, so you do not have to upload pictures by hand.
Google says you choose which apps Gemini can access. After you enable it, it becomes the default for your requests, but you can turn it off with a toggle in the Tools menu.
This change makes a more personalized kind of image generation available to more people without a subscription. It also puts more attention on privacy choices, because the feature works by using your connected Google data, but only if you opt in.
