Google is updating AI Overviews and AI Mode to show quotes and links from Reddit and other forums, plus clearer links to related sites and subscriptions.
In short: Google is updating its AI search summaries so they can quote and link to Reddit and other online forums.
Google said it is improving two search features called AI Overviews and AI Mode. These are the AI-written summaries you sometimes see at the top of search results (like a quick, automatic “notes” version of what the web says).
The big change is a new “preview of perspectives.” It pulls in firsthand comments from places like Reddit, social media, and web forums, and shows them alongside the AI summary. It is meant to help people find real experiences, the same way many users already type a search and then add “Reddit” at the end.
Google says it will also label these sources more clearly by showing details like the creator’s name, their handle (their public username), or the community name. In some results, these quotes may appear as “Expert Advice,” and link directly to a specific forum or subreddit. Google gave an example: if you search for tips on photographing the northern lights, you could see advice from a photography forum, plus a link that takes you to the full discussion.
Google is also adding more and clearer links inside AI answers. Some links may be extra context, not the direct answer, like linking to training tips when you search for cycling routes. Another update adds suggested related topics at the end of an AI response. Google also plans to highlight links from publishers you subscribe to, when those subscriptions support it.
For regular users, this could make it faster to get human opinions and practical tips without digging through many pages. It also makes it easier to see where information came from, so you can check the original conversation yourself.
