Discord says Markdown files now show with proper formatting, plus a new Move to option for organizing servers and bigger uploads for Nitro users.
In short: Discord says its latest update makes Markdown file previews display correctly, and it adds new ways to organize servers and upload larger files.
Discord released an update on October 22, 2026 that changes how Markdown files appear when you upload them. Markdown is a simple way to add formatting to text using symbols, like using asterisks to make words bold (similar to writing notes with quick shorthand).
Before this update, Discord says Markdown previews could show “a bunch of symbols” instead of a clean, readable document. Now, when you upload a .md file, Discord says it should display “nice and neat,” including tables and other formatting.
Discord also added a new organizing feature for the sidebar. You can right-click a server or channel icon and use a new “Move to…” option to rearrange things. In the same update, Discord says Nitro members can now upload files up to 1GB.
This is a small change, but it can make shared notes easier to read inside Discord. That includes project files like READMEs, which are “how to use this” guides that often come in Markdown format. It could also help people working with AI projects, since many AI tools and “agents” (software that can follow written instructions) often use Markdown files to store instructions and background information.
