Data security company Cyera plans to acquire Oasis Security for about $1B, aiming to better control and monitor AI agents inside companies.
In short: Cyera says it has signed a letter of intent to acquire Oasis Security for about $1 billion, mostly in cash.
Cyera, a company that sells data security software, announced it has signed a letter of intent to buy Oasis Security for approximately $1 billion. A letter of intent is a written plan to do a deal, but it is not always the final contract.
Cyera said the purchase would be paid mostly in cash, with the rest in Cyera shares. The company recently raised $600 million at a $12 billion valuation, which is a way investors estimate what the whole company is worth.
Oasis Security focuses on “non-human identities,” especially AI agents. AI agents are software helpers that can take actions on their own, like logging into tools, pulling data, or running tasks (think of them like digital assistants that can press buttons for you). Oasis builds security tools that watch what these agents do and control what they are allowed to access, similar to giving each helper a key that only opens certain doors.
Cyera said it plans to combine Oasis’s technology into a single platform for identity and data security. TechCrunch also noted this would be Cyera’s third acquisition this year, after buying Ryft and Genie Security.
More companies are starting to use AI agents, which can create new security risks if they get the wrong permissions or are misused. Tools that track these agents and limit their access could help reduce the chance of sensitive business data being exposed or misused.
