Warp, a company that makes AI coding tools, announced Warp Factories on Tuesday. The product is meant to make it easier for a company to organize AI agents, which are AI helpers that can carry out tasks in software work.
A “software factory” is a way to structure software development so AI can help at each step, like an assembly line for code (a repeatable set of steps, not a physical factory). Warp Factories is designed around common phases of building software, including triage, writing a plan, building, review, and verification.
Warp says its system acts like a shared workspace for running these agents, often in the cloud (someone else’s computers you rent over the internet). It also connects to tools many teams already use, including Jira or Linear for task tracking, and Slack or Teams for messaging.
Warp CEO Zack Lloyd told TechCrunch the target customer is smaller companies that do not have the time or staff to build this kind of setup themselves. He described pieces like keeping shared “memory” across agents and running “evals” (tests that check how well the AI is doing) as a large technical job.
More companies are trying to use AI to speed up software work, but keeping it organized can be difficult and expensive. Tools like Warp Factories aim to make that setup more like plug and play, while still leaving human engineers in charge. Lloyd said Warp automates about 30% to 35% of its tasks today, and expects that share to rise over time.
