Wabi says it raised $55 million at a $1.25 billion valuation. The company is now positioning itself as a personal AI agent that can build mini apps.
In short: Wabi says it raised $55 million in new funding, valuing the company at $1.25 billion.
Wabi, an AI app that now describes itself as a “personal agent,” announced it has raised $55 million at a $1.25 billion valuation. A valuation is an estimate of what a company is worth based on what investors are willing to pay.
Wabi was founded by Eugenia Kuyda, who previously founded Replika, an AI companion app. Wabi first focused on letting people create apps by typing instructions, similar to ordering a custom tool by describing what you want.
More recently, Wabi shifted toward a messaging-style product. The company says Wabi can create small, task-specific “mini apps” as you chat with it, like simple tools for meal planning, tracking local restaurants, planning date nights, building fitness plans, or making trivia games.
Investment firm IVP led the funding round, according to TechCrunch. Other investors mentioned include Andreessen Horowitz, Forerunner, the Amazon Alexa Fund, and several well-known angel investors.
Many companies are trying to build AI “agents,” which are assistants that can do multi-step tasks for you instead of only answering questions. Wabi’s funding shows investors are still putting large sums behind this idea, and it suggests we may see more apps that feel less like a blank chat box and more like a set of simple, ready-to-use tools built on demand (like a personal assistant that can also whip up a quick spreadsheet or checklist for you).
