A Verge reporter tracked down Gudtrip, a cannabis vape marketed with claims that each puff delivers Bitcoin, plus AI and crypto language.
In short: A report from The Verge looks into Gudtrip, a cannabis vape promoted online with the claim that “every hit delivers Bitcoin.”
The Verge reporter Robert Hart says he first saw an ad on April 20, a date often celebrated by cannabis fans. The ad showed someone vaping and included the line “every hit delivers Bitcoin,” which is a type of digital money.
Hart says the product was called Gudtrip and that it sounded fake, so he tried to find out whether it was real. He describes weeks of searching and sending dozens of emails.
Hart found a Gudtrip website that uses a lot of tech language. It calls the product an “agentic cannabis device” and says it combines cannabis, “blockchain rewards” (a system for tracking digital transactions), and “AI-powered” tools.
The website also says the vape is available in California, and that New York is “coming soon.” It links the brand to a company called Puffpaw, which says it makes a “gamified smart vape” for nicotine, meaning it tries to encourage certain behavior using points and rewards (like a fitness app that gives you badges).
This story is a reminder to be careful with ads that mix hard-to-check claims with trendy terms like AI and crypto. When marketing promises rewards for everyday actions, it can be hard to tell what you are actually getting, what data might be collected, and what rules apply.
