Amazon Ring is routing all inbound support calls through Vapi. The deal helped Vapi raise $50 million and reach an estimated $500 million valuation.
In short: Amazon Ring is now routing 100% of its inbound customer support calls through Vapi, a startup that builds AI tools for phone conversations.
Amazon Ring said it saw a surge in customer support calls during last year’s holiday season. The company reviewed more than 40 vendors that offer AI voice systems before choosing Vapi, according to TechCrunch.
Ring now sends all inbound phone calls through Vapi’s platform. Vapi’s software is used to build and run “voice agents,” which are AI systems that can talk to callers in a more natural way than old phone menus (think “press 1 for billing”).
Vapi said Ring chose it partly because Ring could control how the AI behaves during real calls, and adjust the experience without heavy engineering work. A Ring executive said customer satisfaction scores improved after the rollout.
The Ring deployment helped Vapi raise a $50 million Series B funding round led by Peak XV Partners. TechCrunch reported Vapi’s valuation is around $500 million after the investment. Other investors named include Microsoft’s M12, Kleiner Perkins, and Bessemer Venture Partners. Vapi said its enterprise business has grown 10-fold since early 2025, and it now processes between 1 million and 5 million calls per day.
For regular people, this is a sign that more customer service phone calls may be answered by AI first, especially during busy times. If it works well, it can mean shorter wait times. If it works poorly, it can mean more frustrating calls, so quality and clear ways to reach a human will matter.
