Superhuman acquires meeting notetaker Fathom

What happened

Superhuman, a company known for its email app and other workplace tools, is buying Fathom, a meeting notetaker. A meeting notetaker records a call and then writes up notes and action items (like having a helpful assistant in the room who never misses anything).

Fathom was founded in 2020. The company has raised more than $30 million in funding, and it was valued at $94 million in 2024, according to PitchBook. Fathom says it has more than 400,000 monthly active users, and over 1 million people have recorded meetings with it so far.

TechCrunch reported that Superhuman tested its own notetaker earlier this year with a small group of users. Superhuman CEO Shishir Mehrotra told TechCrunch the company decided to buy an existing product after realizing how difficult it is to build a notetaker that works well across all parts of meeting recording.

Superhuman is building a broader “productivity platform”, meaning a set of connected tools for everyday work, like email, documents, and calendars. With Fathom added, Superhuman says it can use meeting notes to help draft follow-up emails, update records, and schedule next steps.

Why it matters

For many people, meetings create a lot of busywork afterward. If meeting notes can connect directly to the tools you already use, it could reduce the time spent writing recaps, tracking tasks, and remembering what was decided.
