Slack Code adds project-specific channels where teams can tag AI coding tools, review changes, and preview web results without leaving Slack.
In short: Slack has launched Slack Code, a new type of Slack channel designed for teams to work on software tasks together with AI “agents”.
Slack says Slack Code creates dedicated, project-specific channels for coding work. Instead of switching between different apps and chat threads, a team can do the work inside one shared space in Slack.
To start, a person tags a coding agent, which is an AI tool that can write and edit software (like a helper that can draft code on request). Slack says agents such as Anthropic’s Claude and Cognition’s Devin can then spin up a new code channel focused on that task.
Inside the channel, teammates can see the full conversation and review “diffs”, which are side by side comparisons showing what changed in the code (like tracking edits in a document). Slack Code also includes tools to preview HTML output, meaning you can see what a web page will look like before the work is released.
Slack says these coding channels can automatically archive themselves when the assignment is done. They also keep an audit log, a record of what happened and who approved it.
Slack Code is available starting today on any Slack plan. Slack says it works with AI agents offered through Slack’s marketplace, and that founding partners include Claude Code, Devin, Vercel Agent, and GitHub Copilot.
More workplaces are experimenting with AI tools that can help write software, but the work can get messy when it is spread across multiple apps. Slack is betting that putting AI coding work into one shared channel, with clear review and approval steps, will make it easier for teams to stay organized and avoid surprises.
