Lawfare reports that xAI’s Grokipedia, an AI-written encyclopedia backed by Elon Musk, has not accepted or rejected suggested edits since April 24.
In short: A report says Grokipedia, xAI’s AI-generated encyclopedia, has not updated its pages or reviewed suggested edits in more than three months.
Grokipedia is an online encyclopedia made by xAI, Elon Musk’s AI company. It publishes articles that are written by AI (computer-written text that tries to sound like a person). Musk previously said it would be a “massive improvement” over Wikipedia.
On August 5, The Verge highlighted a report from Lawfare that says Grokipedia has not been updating entries since April 24. Lawfare wrote, “As far as we can tell, no entry has changed in more than three months.”
Lawfare also looked at suggested edits from users, which are like leaving correction notes for an editor to review. In a sample of 34,519 pages with at least one suggested edit, containing 225,496 recommended edits, Lawfare said it found no corrections marked as accepted or rejected in the past three months.
Grokipedia first launched in October 2025 with 885,000 articles. Grokipedia’s own site now says it has more than 6,000,000 total articles. But its “Recent changes” area reportedly shows “No live edits available right now,” which is a bit like a public change log that has stopped moving.
The big question is whether xAI will restart reviews and updates, or explain what changed. The Verge says xAI did not immediately respond to a request for comment, and some users on Reddit and X have publicly wondered if the project is inactive.
