Pinterest is testing Restyle in the US and Canada, a feature that lets people upload a room photo and preview different decor and styles using AI.
In short: Pinterest is testing a new feature called Restyle that lets people upload a photo of a room and see possible design changes made by AI.
Pinterest said it is launching Restyle in beta in the US and Canada. Beta means it is an early test version, so not everyone will see it right away.
With Restyle, a person can take a photo of their space and ask the tool to change things in the image. For example, it can add furniture, wall art, accessories, plants, or change paint colors and lighting. People can also tap specific items in the photo to swap them, remove them, or make more edits.
Pinterest also says users can ask for a whole new look, using style prompts like “bohemian,” “industrial,” “whimsical,” or other popular styles. It is similar to using a virtual “try it on first” mirror, but for home design (you see ideas placed into a picture of your real room).
Pinterest says Restyle is powered by its Pinterest Intelligence system. The company also recently described a partnership with Nvidia, a company that sells the computer chips often used to run AI.
Restyle was teased at Pinterest’s Pinterest Presents event. Pinterest said the feature is only an early preview now, and it plans a broader rollout next month.
Pinterest is already where many people save home ideas, but it can be hard to know what will actually look good in your own space. A tool that shows a preview in your own room could make it easier to decide, and it could also nudge more people from saving ideas to buying items.
