OpenAI acquires presentation startup NextSlide

NextSlide founder Ahmed Beshry said the goal is to make visual communication more accessible, so more people can express ideas clearly. He added that by joining OpenAI, the team will keep working on that same mission by building AI products.

The deal price was not shared. Beshry also said on LinkedIn that the announcement came a few months late, and the acquisition actually happened earlier this year.

Why it matters

Many people use slides for school, work updates, and sales pitches, but making them can take hours. If NextSlide’s tools end up inside ChatGPT, it could make it easier for regular users to turn messy notes into slides, the way a spellchecker helps clean up writing. It also shows OpenAI is adding more “create and format” features, not just chat and answers.
