Microsoft Build is expected to include new AI models, a Copilot app that combines assistants, and a Windows 11 mode aimed at making PCs easier for developers to set up.
In short: Microsoft is expected to use its Build conference to preview new AI models, a combined Copilot app, and Windows 11 changes aimed at developers.
Microsoft is in San Francisco this week for its Build conference, where it typically shares updates for people who make software. According to a report from The Verge, Microsoft plans to show several AI related announcements and a set of Windows improvements.
One expected announcement is a new Windows 11 experience optimized for developers. The report says it will focus on a more “distraction free” setup with pre installed apps, tools, and scripts (scripts are small automated steps, like a saved checklist your PC can run for you). The Verge also expects Microsoft to talk about rewriting parts of Windows 11 to improve performance and overall quality.
The report also says Microsoft will highlight AI that runs directly on a PC, instead of sending requests to faraway servers (like doing the work in your kitchen instead of ordering takeout every time). This includes support for newer chips, such as Nvidia’s RTX Spark, and continued work on Windows on Arm, which is Windows running on a different kind of computer processor.
On the AI model side, The Verge reports Microsoft AI chief Mustafa Suleyman will unveil MAI-Thinking-1, described as Microsoft’s first “reasoning” model, meaning it is designed to work through problems step by step. The report also mentions MAI-Image-2.5 and MAI-Image-2.5-Flash. Microsoft is also expected to discuss a Copilot “super app” that combines multiple Copilot assistants into one place, but the report says it likely will not be available to try until later this summer.
Even if you are not a developer, these changes can shape what future Windows PCs feel like, including whether AI features work faster, cost less to use, and run more privately on your own device.
