A report says Meta is working on a wearable AI pendant and plans to start testing it within the next year, as it expands its AI hardware plans.
In short: A report says Meta is building an AI pendant and plans to start testing it within the next year.
Meta is reportedly developing a small wearable device, described as an AI pendant. A pendant is something you can wear on your shirt or on a necklace.
According to TechCrunch, the information comes from an internal memo that was viewed by The Information. The memo says Meta plans to begin testing the pendant within the next year.
The reported project appears tied to Meta’s acquisition of Limitless, a startup Meta bought at the end of 2025. Limitless made a pendant that could record a person’s conversations, with the idea that AI could later help summarize or make use of what was said (like a note taker you wear).
The memo also reportedly says Meta wants to expand its lineup of AI glasses and introduce a business subscription called “Wearables for Work.” Meta has not publicly confirmed these plans, and TechCrunch said it contacted Meta for comment.
Wearable AI devices have had a mixed track record so far. Some earlier products did not catch on, partly because people worried about privacy and partly because users did not find them useful. If Meta moves ahead, it could bring more attention to the question many people care about most, which is whether a device that can record conversations is safe and acceptable to wear in everyday life.
