Meta says its new Muse Spark AI model now powers Meta AI in the US and will roll out to WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook, and more in the coming weeks.
In short: Meta says a new AI model called Muse Spark now powers Meta AI in the US, and it will expand to more Meta apps and countries soon.
Meta Superintelligence Labs announced its first new AI model since Mark Zuckerberg reorganized the company’s AI work and spent billions on it. The model is called Muse Spark.
Meta says Muse Spark now runs the Meta AI app and the Meta AI website in the United States. In the coming weeks, Meta says it will also show up inside WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook, and Messenger, plus Meta’s smart glasses. Meta also says it plans to roll out the model in other countries.
Meta describes Muse Spark as built to fit its own products, similar to how Google’s Gemini is designed to plug into Google services. Meta says the model can work with text and images, not just text. (Think of it like a helper that can read a message and also look at a photo you share.)
Meta also says Muse Spark will be available to some partners in a “private preview” through an API, which is a way for other apps to connect to it like plugging a tool into an outlet.
For most people, this means the Meta AI assistant you see across Meta’s apps may change soon, possibly with faster answers and more features, especially around interpreting images. Meta also highlighted health, science, and math questions, which is important because health chatbots can be risky if they get things wrong or handle sensitive personal information. Users should still treat AI answers as suggestions, not medical advice.
