The Financial Times is taking questions ahead of a live text Q&A on April 23 about how AI is affecting jobs, based on a new workplace survey.
In short: The Financial Times will run a live, text-based Q&A on April 23 about what AI means for people’s jobs and day-to-day work.
The Financial Times is inviting readers to submit questions for an upcoming “Ask an Expert” session focused on artificial intelligence in the workplace.
The live Q&A will take place on Thursday April 23 from 1pm to 2pm BST. It will be a text-based session, meaning people will read and type questions and answers rather than watch a video.
The experts taking part are FT employment columnist Sarah O’Connor, FT chief data reporter John Burn-Murdoch, and FT AI editor Madhumita Murgia. Readers can submit questions ahead of time, or ask them during the session.
The event is linked to a new survey the Financial Times ran with the polling company Focaldata. The FT says it will publish the survey results on Thursday in a news article and in its newsletter, The AI Shift.
AI tools are already showing up in offices and other workplaces, but the effects can be confusing and uneven. A survey is one way to get a clearer picture of what people are actually experiencing, like taking a snapshot of daily work across many jobs at once. A live Q&A also gives workers a chance to ask practical questions about changes they are seeing now, not just what might happen in the future.
