Deezer says it will roll out a new toggle by year end that lets users filter out AI-generated tracks, albums, and artists from search results.
In short: Deezer says it will add a setting that lets people filter out AI-generated music, and it expects to roll it out by the end of the year.
Deezer, a music streaming service, said it is working on a new toggle, meaning a simple on and off switch in the app. When it is turned on, Deezer will stop showing AI-generated tracks, albums, and related artists in search results.
Deezer CEO Alexis Lanternier said the company has seen clear demand from users who want to focus on music made by human creators. Deezer pointed to a survey it cited from last year that found about 45% of its customers wanted a way to remove AI-made music from their feeds.
The announcement follows a big rise in AI-generated uploads on Deezer. Deezer added AI detection tools last year, meaning software that tries to spot music made by computers (like a spam filter, but for songs). At the time, Deezer said AI tracks were 10% of daily uploads. In July, the company said more than 50% of daily uploads were AI-generated, averaging about 90,000 tracks per day.
Other services are taking different approaches. Bandcamp has banned AI tracks, Tidal has stopped paying uploaders for AI music, and Spotify has focused on labeling AI tracks and artists more clearly.
For listeners, this gives more control over what shows up when they search for music. It can also help reduce confusion when a flood of AI-made songs makes it harder to find the artists and albums people are actually looking for.
