Some Claude users in India now see rupee prices for Pro, Max, and Team plans, but payments still require cards or app store billing.
In short: Anthropic is beginning to show Claude subscription prices in Indian rupees for some users in India.
Anthropic, the company behind the AI chatbot Claude, has started “localizing” prices in India. That means some people in India now see subscription costs listed in rupees instead of US dollars.
The change is appearing on Claude’s website and mobile apps, but it is not fully rolled out to everyone yet. Anthropic has also not added UPI payments. UPI is India’s widely used instant payment system (think of it like a fast, standard way to pay directly from a bank app). For now, users still need to pay by card, or through Apple and Google’s app store billing.
TechCrunch reports that on Claude’s website in India, Claude Pro is listed at ₹2,000 per month when billed annually. Claude Max starts at ₹11,999 per month, and Team plans start at ₹2,399 per seat per month. These prices include local taxes, and the in-app prices can be slightly different from the website.
Anthropic says India is an important market for Claude. The company has reported that India accounts for 5.8% of global Claude usage, making it Claude’s second-largest market after the US.
Seeing prices in rupees can make it easier for people to decide whether to pay, because they do not have to guess exchange rates or deal with extra conversion fees. But without UPI support, some users may still find it harder to subscribe, especially compared with services that already offer local pricing and local payment methods.
