Vercel data shows Jev reached 35% of paid teams within two weeks. The numbers come from Vercel’s AI Gateway, which tracks model use through its service.
In short: Vercel says the AI model Jev spread faster than any other model on its platform, reaching 35% of paid teams within two weeks.
Vercel, a company many developers use to run websites and apps, shared new usage data about an AI model called Jev. In Vercel’s report, Jev was used by 35% of paid teams within two weeks of its launch. Vercel said that is the fastest early adoption it has seen for any AI model.
Jev launched in a limited release on September 15. It is built to pick between a small set of pre-written answers, rather than writing anything from scratch. Think of it like a multiple-choice helper instead of a blank-page writer. Because it only chooses from a few options, Vercel says Jev can be cheaper and faster for tasks like sorting or labeling lots of data.
The numbers come from Vercel’s AI Gateway, which is a single service that lets customers access different AI models through one connection (like a power strip that lets you plug in many devices). Vercel notes this view is incomplete, since some major AI labs offer their own direct connections that are not counted here. Even so, Vercel says the data suggests the excitement around Jev turned into real use, and Vercel itself used Jev to help classify harmful commands.
The same report also points to growing use of open-source AI models. Vercel says open-source models handled more than 70% of the text processed through its gateway and nearly 25% of spending, even as spending on top “frontier” labs grew overall.
Expect more “decision” style models like Jev, including lookalikes from larger companies. Also watch whether Jev’s rapid growth continues outside Vercel’s gateway, since this dataset does not capture every place people use AI.
