VentureBeat hired analyst Rob Strechay to lead a new research effort focused on how companies build and run AI systems at work.

VentureBeat named Rob Strechay as its first Lead Analyst and a founding analyst of VentureBeat Research. Strechay previously worked at theCUBE Research, and before that held roles at companies including Amazon Web Services and several startups.
VentureBeat said the goal is to offer more detailed research for business technology leaders who have to choose, buy, and run AI tools. Many companies are moving from small trials of generative AI (AI that can write and create content) to using it in everyday operations.
Strechay will focus on the “plumbing” behind business AI, including cloud infrastructure (renting computing power over the internet), data systems, and security. He has already contributed an analysis on GPU utilization, which is about how efficiently companies use specialized chips that power many AI systems (like owning a fleet of delivery trucks but leaving most of them parked).
He will also host VentureBeat’s VB In Conversation video series, with deeper interviews about how AI systems are built and what gets in the way when companies try to use them at scale. VentureBeat said this work will connect with its monthly VB Pulse surveys, which track topics like AI reliability, AI security, and RAG (a method where an AI looks up information before answering).
