TypeSafe AI says its Jev model is being adopted quickly by big companies. A new $870M funding round values the startup at $7.5B.
In short: TypeSafe AI raised $870 million, valuing the company at $7.5 billion, just weeks after launching its Jev AI model.
TypeSafe AI, the company behind an AI model called Jev, announced it has raised $870 million in new funding. The deal values TypeSafe AI at $7.5 billion. The funding round was led by Andreessen Horowitz, with Sequoia and existing investor DCVC also taking part.
TechCrunch reports that Jev spread quickly after its September 15 release. TypeSafe AI says about a third of Fortune 500 companies are already using Jev. Fortune 500 refers to a list of the largest US companies.
Jev is different from many popular AI tools because it does not produce text. Instead, it produces probabilities, which TypeSafe calls “calibrated decisions.” You can think of it like a system that returns “how likely” different outcomes are, rather than writing an answer in sentences.
TypeSafe says this approach can run faster and use far fewer “tokens.” Tokens are small chunks of text that many AI systems count like meter units on a taxi.
More companies are looking for AI that can help automate work behind the scenes, not just chat or write. If Jev really can make decisions faster and with less computing, it could lower costs for businesses and make it easier to build software that acts automatically, like a dependable assistant that chooses from options instead of drafting emails.
