Donald Trump shared an AI-generated Trump-Jesus image on Truth Social and said he posted it himself. Online users traced an earlier version to a MAGA influencer.
In short: Donald Trump shared an AI-generated image of himself depicted as Jesus Christ, and said he posted it himself on Truth Social.
A new AI-generated picture of Donald Trump has been circulating online, showing him styled as Jesus Christ, with angels and a scene of healing. The image was posted from Trump’s Truth Social account.
According to reporting from The Verge, Trump told reporters on Monday that he posted the image himself. He described it by saying, “I thought it was me as a doctor.” AI-generated images are pictures made by software that can invent realistic-looking scenes, a bit like an automatic collage maker that can blend ideas together.
The Verge also noted the timing drew attention because it came only hours after Trump attacked Pope Leo XIV. The post led to criticism from some conservative commentators. The article quoted Rod Dreher telling The Wall Street Journal that Trump was “radiating the spirit of Antichrist.”
The Verge report says an X user, S2_Underground, traced the image to an earlier version posted in February by MAGA influencer Nick Adams. By the time it appeared on Trump’s account, the image had changed in several ways, suggesting it had been edited or re-generated along the way.
More public figures are sharing AI-made images as if they were normal memes. A key question is whether platforms and politicians will start clearly labeling these posts, especially when they mix politics and religion and can be reshared quickly without context.
