Truecaller’s Family Protection lets one admin manage scam settings for up to five people, get fraud alerts, and end suspicious calls on Android.
In short: Truecaller has launched Family Protection, a feature that lets one person manage scam call protection for a small group and, on Android, even end a suspicious call for someone else.
Truecaller launched its Family Protection feature in December 2025. It lets users create a “Family Group” of up to five people. One person becomes the Family Admin and can invite up to four others, who can be family, friends, or colleagues.
The Admin can set the group’s protection level and manage a shared blocklist, which is a list of phone numbers the group wants to block (like a shared “do not answer” list). Members can see the settings but cannot change them. A group can have more than one Admin if the original Admin promotes someone.
The most hands-on tools work on Android phones. If Truecaller thinks a member is getting a potential fraud call, the Admin can get an alert. The Admin can also remotely end the call for that member, which is similar to a parent hanging up an old landline to stop a suspicious caller. These live alerts and remote hang-up features do not work the same way on iPhones due to iOS limits.
Truecaller first released the feature in Chile, Kenya, Malaysia, and Sweden. The company plans to expand to more regions, including India, in early 2026. Some extra features are tied to a paid subscription on Android.
Scam calls often target people who are less comfortable with phone settings. This feature lets a more tech-savvy person help protect others, without needing to physically take their phone.
