TechCrunch Disrupt 2026 will split its AI programming into two stages, including a new Real World AI Stage focused on robots and AI in physical spaces.
In short: TechCrunch Disrupt 2026 will add a new “Real World AI Stage” focused on AI that works in the physical world, alongside its existing AI Stage.
TechCrunch said it is expanding its AI programming at Disrupt 2026 from one AI stage to two. The existing “AI Stage” will continue, and a new “Real World AI Stage” will be added.
TechCrunch described the new stage as focusing on the overlap between software and real-world machines. Think of it like moving from AI that lives on a screen to AI that can act in places like homes, streets, factories, and other public spaces.
The announced sessions include a talk with Nvidia’s head of Physical AI about what is still missing for robots to become more useful in everyday settings. Another session with Shield AI’s CTO will focus on building AI systems where mistakes can cause real harm, like crashes or failed missions.
The stage also includes a fireside chat with Colossal Biosciences CEO Ben Lamm about “de-extinction,” which is work aimed at bringing back extinct species. TechCrunch says the discussion will cover how AI is used in biology and why the idea is debated.
Disrupt 2026 is scheduled for October 13 to 15 in San Francisco at Moscone West.
AI is increasingly being used in things that move and make decisions in the real world, not just chatbots and search tools. When AI controls a robot, a vehicle, or equipment, reliability and safety become everyday concerns, like trusting brakes in a car.
