Sesame, a startup co-founded by Oculus founders, launched a public preview iPhone app with four voice-based AI agents and a free launch period in 39 countries.
In short: Sesame launched a new iPhone app that lets more people try its voice-based AI agents, which are designed to feel more like a natural conversation.
Sesame, an AI startup co-founded by people who previously built Oculus, released a public preview of its iOS app on May 28. The app is available in 39 countries, and Sesame says the full experience is free for now, although some users may see a short waitlist.
The app includes four AI “agents” named Maya, Miles, Simone, and Charlie. An agent is a chatbot that is meant to act more like an assistant, not just answer questions. Sesame says each agent has its own voice, personality, point of view, and memory.
Sesame is trying to make conversations feel smoother, even when the AI needs time to think. The company says the app can search for information quickly and can do multiple searches while it is still talking. Think of it like someone speaking while also flipping through notes, then adding a detail as soon as they find it.
Sesame says it added features based on beta feedback, including image based search cards, notes for saving takeaways, a texting mode for quiet situations, and “deep dives” for longer answers. It also added an incognito mode for private conversations, where the agent can use the current context but does not save the chat to its long term memory.
More people are getting used to talking to computers, not just typing. Apps like this could make AI feel more like a phone call than a customer support chat, which may change how people search for information and get help on the go.
