Salesforce agreed to acquire Fin for $3.6B. Fin makes AI agents that answer customer questions across chat, phone, and messaging apps.
In short: Salesforce says it has signed an agreement to acquire Fin, an AI customer service company, for $3.6 billion.
Salesforce announced that it plans to buy Fin for $3.6 billion. Fin sells an AI agent, which is software that can handle tasks on its own (like a support rep that answers common questions).
Fin’s tools are used for customer service across many channels. These include live chat on a website, WhatsApp, SMS texts, phone calls, and Slack.
Salesforce said it wants to use Fin’s team and technology to improve Agentforce. Agentforce is Salesforce’s product for building custom AI agents that automate work (think of it like assembling a set of helpful assistants for different jobs, using pre-made parts).
The deal is expected to close in the last quarter of Salesforce’s fiscal year 2027. Because of how Salesforce counts its financial year, that timing falls in the first few months of 2027.
Fin’s co-founder and CEO, Eoghan McCabe, said in a post on X that he expects “little will practically change” for customers. He said he will remain CEO and that Fin will keep building its products.
Many people interact with customer support every day, whether it is for a bank, an airline, or a shopping order. If Salesforce adds Fin’s technology into its widely used business software, more companies may rely on AI to answer questions and solve basic problems, and humans may handle fewer of the routine requests.
