Roblox added Planning Mode and new 3D model tools to its Roblox Assistant, aiming to help creators plan, build, and test games inside Roblox Studio.
In short: Roblox is adding new features to Roblox Assistant so game makers can plan, build, and test Roblox games with more step by step help.
Roblox told TechCrunch it is revamping Roblox Assistant, its plain language AI tool inside Roblox Studio, the app people use to make Roblox games. The update is meant to support creators across the whole process, from the first idea to testing a finished game.
A key addition is a new “Planning Mode.” Instead of taking one instruction and making changes right away, Planning Mode can look at a game’s existing code and how its objects are set up, then ask follow up questions. It then turns the creator’s request into an action plan the creator can edit, like a checklist before any work starts.
Roblox also announced two new building tools. “Mesh Generation” helps creators quickly add fully textured 3D objects (like ready made props) into a game world, so they do not have to rely on rough placeholders. Roblox also plans to introduce “Procedural Models,” which are editable 3D objects created with code, so a creator could adjust things like how many shelves a bookcase has or how tall stairs are.
For testing, Roblox says Planning Mode can use playtesting tools to read logs (records of what happened), take screenshots, and use keyboard and mouse inputs to find bugs and suggest fixes.
Roblox has a huge community of creators, many of whom are not professional programmers. If these tools work as described, they could make it easier to turn an idea into a playable game by guiding creators through planning and catching problems earlier, similar to having a helper that asks “which style did you mean?” before it starts building.
