Ring announced a new App Store at CES 2026 that lets outside developers add AI-powered features to Ring cameras, including elder care and small business tools.
In short: Ring announced a new App Store at CES 2026 that lets other companies build AI-powered apps for Ring cameras, including tools for elder care and small businesses.
Ring launched a new App Store during CES 2026, which ran January 5 to 9. The store is meant to add new uses to Ring cameras beyond home security.
For the first time, Ring is opening its APIs to outside developers. An API is like a set of doors and rules that lets one app safely talk to another. This means developers can build their own camera based features, including “computer vision,” which is software that tries to understand what a camera is seeing (like a person, a pet, or a spill).
Ring said the App Store is starting in the US for people with compatible Ring subscriptions. It will be available through the Ring app or the Ring website. Rollout begins in the weeks after CES, and Ring says it plans full availability in Spring 2026. Some apps may require their own separate subscriptions or accounts.
For regular people, this could change what a Ring camera is used for. In elder care, Ring highlighted apps that watch for changes in daily routines, for example noticing if an older person who lives alone is moving around less than usual. For small businesses, apps can track things like line length, customer wait times, loitering, or whether tables look clean in a cafe or restaurant.
Ring also listed other early apps for pool safety, pet monitoring, short term rentals, and alerts for problems like falls, smoke, leaks, or spills. Developers can request early access through developer.amazon.com/ring.
