The Verge reports Google is working on a Lyria 3 Pro that can make longer songs, but other public details still point to 30-second clips in Gemini.
In short: A new report claims Google is expanding Lyria 3 to generate longer AI-made music, but Google’s public information still centers on 30-second tracks.
The Verge reports that Google is expanding its AI music tool, Lyria 3, so it can create tracks up to three minutes long. The report also says this version, called “Lyria 3 Pro,” would let people ask for specific parts of a song, like an intro, chorus, or bridge.
Publicly available details about Lyria 3 describe a different, more limited product. Google launched Lyria 3 in beta on February 18, 2026 inside the Gemini app. It lets users age 18 and older create 30-second music clips from a text prompt, or from an image or video, and it can add auto-generated lyrics, vocals, instrumentals, and cover art.
Those public descriptions also say every track includes SynthID watermarking, which is a hidden marker in the audio that helps confirm it was made by AI (like an invisible stamp on the sound). Lyria 3 is described as supporting several languages, and it also powers YouTube’s Dream Track feature for Shorts.
At the same time, sources that describe the beta release consistently mention 30-second clips, and they do not mention “Lyria 3 Pro.” That means the three-minute claim and the “Pro” name are not confirmed in the same way as the beta details.
If longer tracks arrive, it would make the tool more useful for things like videos and song drafts, since 30 seconds can feel like a quick sample. For everyday users, the key question is what Google actually ships inside Gemini and YouTube, and what limits and labels come with AI-made music.
