Rebel Audio launches AI podcast tool with $3.8M seed funding

What happened

Rebel Audio is a new tool that lets people record and edit a podcast, generate short clips for social media, and publish an episode to major platforms like Spotify and Apple Podcasts, all from one system.

The company says it is built to reduce the usual back and forth between different apps. Many podcasters today record in one place, edit in another, design cover art somewhere else, and then upload to a separate hosting service. Rebel Audio aims to keep those steps together, like having a single workspace instead of a desk full of separate tools.

Rebel Audio includes several AI features. These include an AI voice agent that suggests titles and descriptions by chat, automatic transcripts (written text of the audio) with speaker detection, and cover art made from the episode content. It also offers “smart clips,” which try to find interesting moments and turn them into short videos for sharing.

Other features include translation, with voice cloning (a tool that imitates a speaker’s voice) and a dashboard for tracking listens. Rebel Audio says creators can publish with one click to more than 10 platforms. The product was introduced with an invite only waitlist during SXSW in Austin.

The startup was founded by Jared Gutstadt, who previously launched Jingle Punks and Audio Up. TV producer Mark Burnett is listed as the first advisor.

Why it matters

For first time creators, podcasting can feel like assembling furniture with parts from different boxes. A simpler, one stop tool could lower the effort needed to start and run a show, especially as the podcast market keeps growing.
