Swedish AI startup Pit, founded by Voi leaders, raised a $16 million seed round led by a16z to build AI tools that automate internal business work.
In short: Stockholm-based AI startup Pit raised a $16 million seed round led by venture firm a16z.
Pit is a new Swedish startup led by people who helped build Voi, a European electric scooter company. It includes Voi CEO Fredrik Hjelm and CEO Adam Jafer, plus engineers who previously worked at companies like iZettle and Klarna.
The funding is a $16 million “seed round,” which is early money used to build the product and hire a team. The round is led by a16z (Andreessen Horowitz), a well-known Silicon Valley investment firm. Other backers include Lakestar, some executives from US tech companies, wealthy Nordic families, and Pit’s founders.
Pit says it is building AI for large companies. The idea is to learn how a company’s internal processes work, then create custom software that automates some of that work. Think of it like having a small software team that watches how your office runs, then builds tools to speed up repetitive tasks.
Pit has been testing its approach with pilot customers since mid-January in areas like telecom, healthcare, and logistics. It is focused on “back office” work, meaning internal tasks like support and operations, not customer chatbots. Pit also plans to hire solution engineers who work closely with customers to deliver results.
More companies want AI that does practical work inside the business, not just tools that write text. Pit’s funding shows investor interest in Stockholm as a place where these business-focused AI companies are being built.
