Palantir expands military AI work as it wins major US contracts

Palantir Technologies is expanding its AI platforms for military and defense use, as its government business grows quickly. The Army deal is Palantir’s largest government contract. It is meant to give Army units a shared system that pulls data together in real time and helps leaders make decisions. Think of it like giving many teams one common dashboard, instead of each team using its own spreadsheet and radio updates.

The DHS agreement is a “blanket purchasing agreement,” which is a pre-approved way for DHS offices to buy Palantir’s software through smaller orders over time. DHS can use Palantir’s Gotham and Foundry platforms for tasks like case management, spotting possible threats, moving supplies, and coordinating emergency response.

Palantir CEO Alex Karp has argued that AI will reshape warfare, mainly by helping the US and its allies coordinate information faster. He has pointed to Project Maven, a US military program that uses AI to review satellite images and other surveillance data, as a key example.

These contracts can lock Palantir into daily operations because the tools become part of the basic setup, like wiring in a building.
