OpenAI has replaced its chief revenue officer after nine months and hired former Wiz president Dali Rajic, as other senior leaders also leave.
In short: OpenAI has replaced its chief revenue officer, hiring Dali Rajic to lead sales as the company continues changing its top leadership.
OpenAI said it has replaced chief revenue officer Denise Dresser after about nine months in the role. The company hired Dali Rajic, who was president and chief operating officer at Wiz, to take over.
A chief revenue officer is the executive in charge of bringing in money, mainly through sales and business deals. You can think of it like the head of the company’s store and sales team.
The hiring comes during a wider set of leadership changes at OpenAI. In the past month, the company’s chief operating officer Brad Lightcap has said he is leaving, and Fidji Simo has stepped down from a senior role described as leading “AGI deployment” (getting advanced AI into real products people can use).
OpenAI president Greg Brockman announced Rajic’s arrival in a company blog post. Rajic previously worked at Wiz, a cybersecurity company that Google acquired for $32 billion earlier this year.
OpenAI also said its products reach more than one billion weekly active users and about two million businesses. Even so, executives have suggested the company has not met all of its revenue goals.
OpenAI is widely used by both consumers and businesses, but turning that attention into steady income is still a challenge. Leadership changes in the sales role can affect pricing, business partnerships, and which products get pushed to companies. OpenAI has also filed confidentially with the SEC ahead of a possible IPO, which is a step companies often take before selling shares to the public.
