AI infrastructure firm Nscale is reportedly in talks to raise $3.5 billion before a potential stock market listing, including funding tied to Nvidia.
In short: British AI infrastructure company Nscale is reportedly trying to raise $3.5 billion before a possible IPO, which is when a company sells shares to the public.
Nscale, a UK company that provides the computing power used to run AI systems, may go public as soon as later this month, according to earlier reporting. Ahead of that, Bloomberg reports that Nscale is in talks to raise an extra $3.5 billion.
The reported plan has two parts. Nscale is looking to sell $1.5 billion in convertible notes, which are loans that can later turn into company stock (like an IOU that can be swapped for shares). It is also seeking another $2 billion in financing from Nvidia, a major maker of AI chips.
Nvidia has backed Nscale before. It participated in Nscale’s $1.1 billion Series B funding round in March, led by investment fund Aker. Nscale previously raised $155 million in a Series A round in December 2024.
Nscale has also been signing big customer deals. It recently announced an agreement with AI company Anthropic worth about $45 billion. Another report said Nscale told potential investors it has about $103 billion in “revenue” after that deal, but that figure is a projection based on signed leases, not money already collected.
AI services need lots of specialized computers, and companies like Nscale are trying to build and finance that capacity quickly. If Nscale raises more money and goes public, it could affect how fast AI providers can expand, and how much it costs to access the computing resources that power popular AI tools.
